The non violence of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba is manifested in all aspects of his life. His life alone would suffice to enlighten all on the dimension of a non violence of divine essence. Indeed, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba lived for God right from his most tender childhood. His life alone could serve as the basis for teaching and educating for a true culture of peace.

In fact, the Cheikh bore injustice but never had recourse to revenge. On the contrary, he forgave and better still, he prayed for those who wanted to harm him. All this happened in a socio historical context of denial of rights to the natives of colonized countries, at the great turning point of history which marked the end of the 19th century.

The non violence of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba is of divine essence and his prophetic action is based on an authentic culture of peace.

It is not a question of making a biography or a chronicle of the life of the Saint Man but to understand and to make others understand his life and work. Both were entirely founded on an ideal which is the permanent quest of God with a responsible and conscious commitment at the service of man.

Our world has more than ever need of exemplary beings who have shown the way to peace through non violence and who have distinguished themselves by the remedies they have brought to the ills of society. Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba is of those men and he has been ale to take up, by peaceful means, the challenge of the extreme violence which opposed him in a context characterized by a total violation of human rights.
